Happy Panda Kitchen Chinese Hot Pot is a cozy spot on Broxton Ave that caters to solo diners and small groups craving a hands-on hot pot experience. This restaurant focuses on individual hot pots, letting each guest customize their broth and ingredient mix, which suits those who appreciate a personalized meal pace and spice level. The setup works well for Westwood’s busy lunch and dinner crowds, especially students and young professionals seeking flavorful, fresh ingredients without the overwhelm of a large shared pot.

The atmosphere here is simple and clean, with a neat, casual vibe that feels just right for a quick bite or a relaxed catch-up. The restaurant's layout and decoration keep things functional – it’s a practical place to enjoy hot pot without the fuss you might find at bigger chain-style spots. The restrooms are well-kept and equipped with basics like paper towels, indicating consistent attention to detail.

On the menu, the Sweet & Sour Tomato Hot Pot stands out with layers of fresh vegetables and sliced Angus beef, balancing acidity and umami in a way that keeps the broth lively as you cook. The option to dial up the spice appeals to those who like a fiery kick, a feature appreciated by locals familiar with Taiwanese-style hot pots. For those partial to snacks, the Taiwanese popcorn chicken arrives hot and crisp with a balanced, non-greasy spice coating, making it an excellent shareable starter or side dish.

Drinks cover a range of options from soothing green and jasmine teas to richer milk teas and fruity smoothies, adding variety to the meal without overwhelming a relatively compact menu. The choices work well to complement the hot pot’s warmth, especially if you’re visiting on a cooler evening or looking for a refreshing contrast.

Given the individual serving sizes, Happy Panda Kitchen works well as a quick solo lunch or casual dinner spot, but small groups can share an order if preferred. The place tends to get busy during dinner rush hours, so an early visit might provide a quieter experience. While prices lean a bit high for student budgets in the area, the freshness of ingredients and ability to customize spice levels offer good value for a focused hot pot meal without the full restaurant wait.

Overall, Happy Panda Kitchen is a practical, no-frills destination for anyone interested in a straightforward, interactive hot pot experience in the Westwood neighborhood. It’s best suited to those who enjoy controlling their own spice levels and prefer single-serve broths over communal pots.

The Golden Beef hotpot is my go-to! Highly recommend it. Love how you can adjust the level of spice. "If it's not spicy, I'm not eating it." The flamin' spicy can deliver its heat. In a good way.

I really liked eating here, they put a lot of care into each hot pot. Tea is included and there are some tasty fried dishes like crispy pork to try. Only thing is that I wish the beef broth had more flavor.

A nice place for an individual hotpot, although you could also split an order to fill two people. The flavors and ingredients are fresh. If only they would add at least 2 of each ingredient for the hotpot. The taiwanese popcorn chicken was hot off the fryer with a spicy but well balanced spice mixture, not greasy at all

Nice and clean little hot pot place with neat decoration . The restroom is clean with paper towels. The amount of food is just right and we can specify the degree of spicy. We enjoy our meal there.

Good hotpot, but be mindful of the cost and dinner rush. Happy Panda Kitchen is a solid choice if you're craving hotpot in Westwood. The individual hotpot style is great, and the broths are flavorful. The ingredients all taste fresh, and it's a fun and interactive dining experience to build your own meal. The main thing to be aware of, especially as a student on a budget, is the price. A single meal can add up quickly once you start adding toppings and drinks, and it's definitely on the more expensive side for a casual dinner. I've found it's more of a "treat yourself" or special occasion spot rather than a regular dinner option. Also, be prepared for a crowd if you go during peak dinner hours. The place gets packed, and the noise level can be high. If you're a student looking for a quick and affordable meal, there are better options in the area, but if you're in the mood for hotpot and don't mind the price, it's a good place to go.

I and my friends went here frequently when I was still studying at UCLA. Now I’m in a different places, I still miss the food here. I tried different hot pots, and different drinks every time I visited here. I like the apple drink, and strawberry drink the most. For the hot pot, they have different spicy levels which is very convenient. I don’t have a preference for hot pot since I like them all. I would recommend this place

Great individual style hot pot place in Westwood! Everything is ordered from mobile and they have a wide selection of soup bases, add-ons, cold dishes and drinks. We ordered multiple soups including Sauerkraut lamb, Thai fusion, Mushroom and Golden beef. They give you good portion of ingredients (meat, balls, tofu, fish cake, different kinds of veggies and mushrooms). On the side there is rice or vermicelli noodle option. It is very filling! I am also pleasantly surprised by the drink. Ordered the Honey Kumquat Lemon and it pairs nicely with boiling hot soup to cool my mouth and reset my taste buds for the next bite. Highly recommend!

Came here with a friend for a quick bite after visiting another friend in the hospital. Food is decent and on par with any other hot pot place. It was lovely that it was actually spicy, so great for individual hot pot! You can choose between mild and spicy!
